Two Way To Haul a Motorcycle
Feb 4th, 2009 by kenny
Having a motorcycle does not mean that you will be able to ride it in every instance. Their will be times when you may have to haul your motorcycle from one stop to the next. This may be the case if your bike breaks down and needs to go to the shop to have it repaired. How about if your going on a trip and you want to bring along your motorcycle to ride at your destination? Having a way to haul a motorcycle in advance will allow you to enjoy it much more. Here are two ways to Haul a motorcycle. I am sure that each of these may be obvious to those who have had motorcycles for a while. But for those who have just purchased motorcycle for the first time, follow these suggestions.
- Haul the motorcycle in a pickup truck. Most pickup truck beds are deep enough to haul a motorcycle or two. Some are not, for example I would not recommend a 2 wheel drive small truck to haul a motorcycle. If it is a big motorcycle the weight may damage the transmission or even worse. But just saying to haul a motorcycle in a flat bed truck is not enough. You need to find a way to get that motorcycle in the bed of the truck. Big heavy motorcycles are usually the hardest to get in. Go to home depot or Lowes and buy some 2X4's to use as ramps. Or you can invest in real ramps if you want to spend the money. Position the ramps on the back of the pickup and push it up. Be sure to have some friends around if the bike becomes too heavy. Once you have the bike in the bed you want to strap the bike down to keep it from moving or tipping.
- The second way to haul a motorcycle is to buy a motorcycle trailer. This is extremely easier than the last ideal. The trailers are lower to the ground to you won't need multiple people to push the bide. They are very durable and their are enclosed motorcycle trailers. The enclosed trailers help to keep the bike out of the elements during a trip. The only drawback to this suggestion is that trailers cost a good piece of change. Well, at least enclosed trailers do.
Hauling a motorcycle is not a problem with the right tools. Having those tools will elevate a lot of problems.
